Retired U.S. cardinal dies amid abuse testimony controversy

Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, the retired Roman Catholic archbishop of Philadelphia whose competence to testify in an upcoming church sexual abuse trial was being hotly debated in court, died in his sleep late on Tuesday, the church said.
