Conflict fuels theatre. Downstage’s Creation Ensemble didn’t have to look far for the yarn that initiated their new show, Good Fences. “We came across a story of someone who was a VP for a small oil and gas company in the late ’90s,” says Downstage artistic director Simon Mallet, “who was shot by a rancher over a dispute about a well on his land.”
