Mike Poulin works as hard as anyone for his success and Thursday he was named the National Lacrosse League’s goaltender of the year. The 26-year-old, third-year member of the Calgary Roughnecks finished the regular season with a lead-sharing 10-3 record, a second-best goals-against average of 10.27 and a .789 save percentage during 759 minutes of playing time.

It seems the Battle of Alberta, lacrosse style, has a habit of building steam. Dane Dobbie, a five-foot-eight offensive dynamo with the Calgary Roughnecks, really didn’t know what all the fuss was about when he joined the club full time in 2009.
